Request for Proposals: Planning & Information Exchange for Wildfire Impact Reduction Project
A number of British Columbia’s agricultural operations are located in areas at risk for wildfires. Some areas, such as the Okanagan, have experienced several significant wildfire seasons in recent years. With climate change projections including more prolonged warm and dry periods during summer, as well as more extremely hot days, it is anticipated that the number (and severity) of wildfires will increase in the future.
An RFP has been posted for the Planning and Information Exchange for Wildfire Impact Reduction Project.
The overall objectives associated with this project are to:
- Pilot a cooperative planning process with producers in 1–2 areas with high risk of wildfire;
- Strengthen information available for emergency response regarding agricultural assets in areas with high risk of wildfire; and
- Provide wildfire-related planning and informational resources to promote farm-level preparedness for agricultural operators
