This two-year project will establish trial sites and develop research templates to enable producers to carry out their own on-farm research that is specific to their needs and farm operations. Increasing farmer-led research is fundamental to improving the resiliency of producers in the face of ongoing climate change impacts, such as drought and unpredictable precipitation.
This project will develop three Grab & Go Research Templates with case studies, each of which will target a unique aspect of farm production:
- improved yield
- efficient water use
- soil health
Case studies will be based on field trial sites in the Kootenay & Boundary regions and will include data collection, data analysis to evaluate effectiveness for climate change adaptation, and cost-benefit analysis. Three on-farm field days are planned during the project to showcase the work being conducted by the case study producers, and the final templates will be widely distributed.
