Request for Proposals: Delta’s Future Agricultural Water Supply & Demand
The Delta Farmers Institute (DFI) is seeking proposals for a contractor to work with local producers, City of Delta, and industry groups to assess the current and future capacity of Delta’s agricultural water supply. The successful proponent will be required to assess both the City of Delta managed surface water supply system and the Metro Vancouver drinking water supply under future climate demand and supply conditions. An additional element will include a high level feasibility of potential system improvements.
This project includes:
- Reviewing existing reports, studies and community knowledge of the water supply system’s current and projected capacity;
- Assessing the impacts of climate change and system expansion on overall system demand and supply; and
- Assessing the feasibility of major system enhancements and identifying potential upgrades or management strategies to improve capacity.
The project fulfills a priority action of the Delta Adaptation Strategies and will enhance the ability of producers in Delta to adapt to the impacts of climate change. All work will be overseen by a committee that includes representatives from DFI, the BC Agriculture & Food Climate Action Initiative (CAI), the City of Delta and the BC Ministry of Agriculture.
The successful contractor will have a minimum of three years of direct experience with conducting similar projects with experience including background scans and research, data compilation and analysis, consultation and report writing. A professional designation of P.Ag and P.Eng are assets.
