|Status||completed in 2020|
|Project Lead||BC Agricultural Research & Development Corporation|
|Funding Partners||Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, BC Ministry of Agriculture|
|Other Partners||Agricultural producers, Fraser Valley Regional District|
This project developed a series of fact sheets and worksheets, collectively known as the Farm Flood Readiness Toolkit, to help producers assess their flood risk and prepare for and reduce flood impacts.
Climate change is anticipated to increase various types of flood risk across BC, and the Farm Flood Readiness Toolkit will be applicable to any producer concerned about flood risk and associated impacts. The toolkit contains fact sheets to encourage producers to assess their operation’s flood risk and worksheets to plan ahead to reduce flood impacts.
The toolkit content was developed by:
- selecting priority topics with input from the local project oversight committee
- compiling relevant information on prioritized topics into a series of fact sheets
- developing accompanying worksheets and sample forms
- vetting content with 12 technical advisors and three Agricultural Advisory Committees (in Penticton, Chilliwack and North Okanagan)
