This project will enhance the Okanagan Invasive Species Online (OISO) website — developed through an earlier CAI project — by increasing the number of species listed on the site and providing specific invasive species management and treatment options for agriculture.
Climate change is resulting in warmer average temperatures and an increase in the number of growing degree days, which is leading to shifting ranges and populations of invasive species and increasing associated management challenges.
The OISO website collates agriculture-focused information about invasive species into a single Okanagan-wide resource that is searchable by commodity, plant colour, category and species name, enabling producers to detect and manage pests impacting their operation.
This project will:
- conduct outreach to ensure Okanagan producers are aware of the website’s resources
- improve the website’s content and navigation based on the results of user evaluations
- develop a long-term administrative and funding plan to ensure the website remains responsive to user needs and the content is kept up to date
